Pro Natural Bodybuilder Ryan Doris Talks With Longevity Muscle
"I'm just interested in doing it for me for once and just seeing what that looks like."
What does your current training schedule look like?
As of late, I’ve picked three types of exercise/activity that I do, and enjoy.
pilates
bodybuilding
stationary cardio
The type that I find myself actually doing the most is the cardio. There's a Planet Fitness two minutes from me that I go to and first thing in the morning I put my headphones in, eat a few blueberries, a piece of bread with some peanut butter, a shake and then head out for some stationary cardio. When I get back home from the cardio I’ll make a meal and get to work. Later in the day I hit my second session, whether that be a pilates session or a bodybuilding session.
Can you elaborate on your bodybuilding routine as of late?
As of recent, I focus best on training body parts by themselves. I’ll train chest by itself, arms together, I actually do well when I train arms together, it's a long session but together they do well, deltoids alone, I can't train deltoids with anything else, back alone and legs I do all alone as well. Legs and arms are my longest days.
It’s very different than how I did things in the past. I would always do the power hypertrophy split where I would do three upper body days and two leg days and everything would get trained twice a week.
What's your rationale behind your current bodybuilding routine?
I don't have the time! I simply don't have the time. I'm older, I have to spend time in relationships, with friends and they have babies, it’s life.
Every bodybuilder is addicted to this idea of a seven day split. I learned this idea from Dr. Michael Zourdos where I have extended my split to nine days and I run it anywhere that it falls. So my split now is,
